Meet Attorney Jason M. Toomey, founder of Intellestate Law, a Massachusetts firm focused on Intellectual Property and Estate Planning. With more than 15 years of experience, Jason is passionate about helping clients protect both their innovations and their legacies.
Before launching his own practice, Jason spent nearly a decade and a half leading patent prosecution for a Boston tech startup, where he built and managed a portfolio of more than 300 patents. His engineering background gives him a unique perspective—he not only understands the law, but also the technical foundations of what his clients create.
Jason graduated summa cum laude from New England Law | Boston, where he graduated first in his class and earned ten CALI Excellence for the Future awards. His academic focus included Estate Planning, Intellectual Property, and Business Law. With a background in Electrical Engineering, Jason is a registered Patent and Trademark Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Over his career, he’s gained extensive patent protection for a wide range of inventions, from electrical and mechanical engineering to software and business methods. Clients appreciate his combination of precision, patience, and plain-language explanations—qualities that make complex legal processes understandable and approachable.
When he’s not working with clients, Jason is an enthusiastic SCUBA diver. You can often find him exploring the waters off Gloucester and Rockport, MA—or adventuring in Maine and Rhode Island. He brings that same curiosity and energy to his law practice, guiding each client step by step toward lasting protection and peace of mind.
